SOCIAL CLUB
The Social Club of Christ the King came into
being to create a friendly and social
atmosphere for the elderly of the parish
community. It was a very active group and
enjoyed trips and programs that were
educational and spiritual.
The Club had an initial enrollment of one
hundred to two hundred members, both
men and women. Unfortunately, over time
the enrollment has dropped. There are now
thirty members who meet in the Johnson
Room every second Tuesday of the month
from September to May.
The Club has chosen to close the year on
Ascension Thursday with a Mass in honor of
its deceased members. After Mass, a
meeting will be held in the Johnson Room to
discuss the agenda for the coming year,
followed by a luncheon at an area restaurant.
The format remains the same in some
aspects with the exception of the fabulous
trips and programs which are no longer
economically feasible. To replace them,
luncheons at nearby restaurants are offered
and are very successful. Programs are
simple, but entertaining.
As long as the need exists, the Social Club
will always be an integral part of the family
of Christ the King Church.
