MINUTES OF PASTORAL COUNCIL MEETING
September 12, 2006
1. Meeting called to order by Father Foley
2. Father Foley opened the meeting with a blessing and
members joined him in the Lord’s Prayer Members then read
the Mission Statement.
3. Present: Father Foley, Father Riley, Deacon Joe, Jack
Staples, Paul Franco, Vincent Matulaitis, Janet Rauktis, and
Kathy Johnson
4. Pastor’s Report: Financial Report: Parishioners need to
contribute $8100 each week to support the parish. We will be
embarking on a revenue enhancement program to try to
increase current contributions by 30%. A company that has had
success with this program will be contacting all parishioners and
discussing weekly contributions. A different letter will be used
for those who are contributing regularly and those who have yet
to contribute to the running of their parish. Weekly contributions
are down, but other gifts have gone up. We cannot continue to
rely on these extra gifts to support the parish. The boiler is over
50 years old and is showing its age. It is going to be very
expensive to replace it. There continues to be interest in hiring a
pastoral associate to help with many pastoral needs including
care for the elderly, shut-ins, and those in hospitals.
5. Temporal Administrator: Deacon Joe - The kneelers in the
church should be replaced, but it is very expensive. It would
cost about $7500 to refurbish them and about $11,000 to replace
them. The glass on the outside of the stained glass windows,
used for protection and as a wind barrier, need to be fixed. The
cost of this repair is about $4000. The glass doors in the front of
the church need to be fixed/replaced at a cost of about $13,000.
The stucco in the bridge room needs to be replaced for about
$2800 and the windows in the rectory and bridge room need to
be replaced at a cost of about $19,000. The boiler needs to be
repaired and re-inspected before they can be fired up. If they
need to be replaced, they would take priority over all other
needs. There is also a wish list. We need new tops for the lights
on the walkway. These would cost about $4800. Replacing the
dividers in the hall would cost about $500,000. Redoing the
driveway is also a wish at this time.
