MINUTES OF PASTORAL COUNCIL MEETING
                                       October 6, 2009

1.         Present: Father Millott, Father Riley, Deacon Joe Baniukiewicz, Anita
Fenton, Vincent Matulaitis, Janet Rauktis, Dave Standring, Mark Anderson,
Jack Staples, Joan Cross, Karen Belliveau, and Kathy Johnson

Father Millott and members joined in song and prayer, followed by recitation of
the Mission Statement. Minutes were approved from the last meeting.

2.
Father Millott

·         Diocesan financial report has been sent, parish report will be submitted
soon

·         What do we do for Thanksgiving and Christmas for parishioners in need?
Vinnie explained the St. Vincent de Paul society and how it works at Christ the
King. Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets are given to people in the parish as
well as to Pernet. Names are submitted to Mindy and she passes them on to
Society members. The St. Vincent de Paul Society is in need of funds
especially with the heating season coming up.  Father asked Vinnie to look at
the weekly collection envelopes and pick a weekend that would not interfere
with other collections. It was noted that people in the parish need education as
to what the St. Vincent de Paul Society is. It will be noted in the bulletin that
parishioners can bring food to church on Thanksgiving Day.

Father Riley

·         Thanks were given to the Women’s Guild for paying for the repair of a
stole

3.
Temporal Administrator: Deacon Joe

·         We need about $35,000 more to pay off the oil burner debt. Envelope
collection will be extended

·         Yesterday was spent with the heating company representative. One
heating unit is broken. Seven pneumatic thermostats have to be replaced and
locks installed

·         Kneelers still need to be replaced, but they are not a priority at this time

·         Will cost about $39,350 to replace the rectory windows

·         The leak in the roof near the crown has been repaired

·         The walls dividing the classrooms in the hall need to be
repaired/replaced, Deacon Joe is looking for recommendations

·         Dumpsters are to remain locked to discourage illegal dumping.

·         The chains in the parking lot come up and down according to parish
needs

·         Scouts have been doing a good job cleaning up after themselves after
their meetings

·         The speakers on the altar are working but are not always clear; someone
will come to adjust them

·         Bulletins and inserts are left in the pews after every mass. It was
suggested that we go back to passing out the bulletins after masses, like we
did a couple years ago. Most parishioners prefer to read the bulleting before
mass, so we decided not to change the distribution at this time. However, it is
important that everyone either bring their bulletin home for reference during
the week, or return their bulletin to the back of the church. It is also important
that the pews are left clear of food and dirty tissues after each mass. Everyone
should be responsible for leaving the church clean for the next mass.

4.
New Business:

·         There have been a lot of inserts for the bulletin lately. If ministries could
coordinate printing, we should be able to reduce paper use by printing on the
front and back of each sheet.

·         It was suggested that we look into getting a parish magnet to hold the
perforated section of the bulletin. The children involved in the Interfaith group
have made magnets in the past. Janet will look into the cost of getting magnets
produced.

·         Baby bottles can be returned to church on the last weekend of October
or during the week to the rectory.

·         Safe training will be held on October 21st fro 10 am to 7 pm

·         CORIs need to be done for everyone working with children

5.
Old Business:

There were not any ministry information sheets available at
Septemberfest. It was suggested putting them in the foyer, but the foyer is too
busy with other ministries at this time. We hope to eventually have information
available in the foyer. Until that time, information about all ministries and the
contact person are available on the church website. There is still no word on
when the new ministry pamphlets will be completed.

Appreciation Dinner will be held on a Saturday in March

It would be great if more families could buy the grocery cards to help in the
fight against homelessness. Cards are sold at face value and the buyer gets
full value. The stores donate 5% of the sales to the Homeless Coalition. Please
stop at the table in the foyer after mass with any questions.

Ministry Reports:

6.         Social Committee:  Janet

·         Italian Night will be held after the 4 pm mass on October 17th. Thirty five
tickets have been sold, would like to sell 200. A fall centerpiece may be raffled.

·         Septemberfest was held on a beautiful day. The CYC kids were great, but
we need to get more young people involved in the set-up and break-down.
Although not many people attended, those who did attend had a great time.
We will be thinking of ways to get more young dads involved. There will be a
meeting next fall to decide what changes we can make to increase
involvement. It will be an open gathering for anyone in the parish to attend and
voice their suggestions.

·         Interfaith Hospitality Network Janet is selling appreciation tickets for a
$25 donation to INH. The money collected will be used for homeless family
transportation. Each parish is asked to sell 10 cards and the first parish to
return the money will be given a car wash for their pastor.
