MINUTES OF PASTORAL COUNCIL MEETING
December 2, 2008
1.         Meeting called to order by Anita Fenton
Deacon Joe opened the meeting with the Lord’s Prayer. Several changes
were made to the minutes and the minutes were approved.
Present: Father Foley, Deacon Joe, Anita Fenton, Vincent Matulaitis,
Margaret Abboud, Janet Rauktis, Paul Franco, Mike Chase, Kathy Cushing,
Mary Sullivan, Diane Long
2.        Financial Report:  Father Foley stated that he has continued to receive
many favorable responses from parishioners regarding the Finance
Committee reports given at all the Masses. Collections have been better the
past three weeks. We have been getting approximately $9,000 per week. We
are in good standing.

Additional Business: Mike continues to work on a booklet for the Ministry to
the Sick and Homebound. He is working on packets that would include
information on entering and leaving the hospital and a health care proxy
among other things.

Christmas Masses are at 4:00 PM, 6:00 PM and 10:00 PM on Christmas Eve
and 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM Christmas Morning.

New Year’s Masses are at 4:00 PM New Year’s Eve and 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM
New Year’s Day.

3.        Temporal Administrator: Deacon Joe  A heating contractor looked at
the heating system. Fuel was being wasted. A recommendation was made to
replace 7 – 8 pneumatic therms. We are waiting to hear about a price. These
should be in place this winter. These new therms will be able to be used with
an eventual new boiler system. We are also waiting for an estimate on
replacing motors and pumps and a dryer unit in the heating system. Also, the
new emergency lighting should be installed soon. The wrong charging box
was sent at first and we are waiting for the right one.

4.        Old Business: Deacon Joe The Knights continue to work on the Parish
booklet. We are eliminating the last page with people’s names as these can
change often. We are adding our Mission Statement to the front of the book
and will also put a drawing of Christ the King Church on the front cover
instead of the crucifix that is currently on the cover. Our web address will
also be added. Deacon Joe read through all of the groups that will be in the
booklet and each of their summaries.

5.        New Business: The subject of the proper way to receive Holy
Communion was brought up. Parishioners have noticed that there is not the
appropriate reverence for the Eucharist when some individuals are
receiving communion. It was suggested that Father address the issue from
the altar and that it also be addressed in CCD classes.  The subject of having
some sort of railing on the altar for those Eucharistic Ministers that needed
some extra support when walking was brought up. Father said that there was
not a reasonable way to install a railing and that it has always worked well
with the ministers helping out each other by lending an arm to those who
need assistance. It was also mentioned that the microphone seemed to not
be working at recent Masses. Father Foley explained the parts of the
microphone and how it works and that it can be affected by the breathing of
the speaker. If one part is eliminated, to solve one issue, it can lead to other
problems.
