November 3, 2009
Present: Father Millott, Father Riley, Deacon Joe Baniukiewicz, Deacon Mike Chase,
Anita Fenton, Vincent Matulaitis, Janet Rauktis, Dave Standring, Joan Cross, Karen
Belliveau, Dick Benoit and Kathy Johnson
Father Millott and Parish Council members joined in prayer followed by the approval
of last month’s minutes and the recitation of the Mission Statement.
Father Millott:
· Parish Finance Committee will be meeting tomorrow. The cover letter of the
finance report has been finished and the report will be in the bulletin soon.
Father Riley:
· Thanked the CYC kids for helping at the Senior Luncheon and setting up the
hall for CCD classes.
Temporal Administrator:
· There are two controls that were left open for the heating system many years
ago. They are being fixed or replaced.
· There is still an issue with the speakers on the altar. They need to be fixed and
it was said that maybe we need speakers in the sanctuary.
· The dumpster is now locked to stop non parish use.
· We have raised about $54,400 towards the cost of the boilers.
· A diocesan recommended firm will be coming at the end of the month to look
at the walls in the church hall and to give an estimate to get them fixed.
· Everything is going well with all groups cleaning up after themselves.
New Business:
Old Business:
· We will get a price from a new printer to get the ministry brochures completed.
The current printer appears to be too busy to print them. We will need about 2000
brochures with a heavy card stock cover.
· In March or April, we will begin discussing ways to welcome new parishioners
coming from St. Charles which will be closing in June
· Ecumenism-Father Millott has been at one meeting with other clergy
(Episcopal and Congregational Churches) No follow-up meeting has been set.
Administration
CCD:
· There are over 300 students in the religious education classes. First Penance
will be held on December 5th. There are two teachers in every class, and Kathy is
very thankful for all the support.
RICA:
· Mike and Molly did a four week training to assist in the RICA process, so there
is now a four person team for this ministry. There is one inquirer currently meeting
with the RICA team.
Organizations
Women’s Guild:
· An Evening of Recollection will be held on December 9th. There will be a Mass
at 6 pm followed by a light dinner and a talk by Father Millott in the Johnson Room.
· There are still a few baby bottles outstanding to be submitted, but the project
went very well. The Visitation House will receive the bottles and count the returns.
Knight of Columbus:
· The 4pm Mass on November 14th will be celebrated as a memorial mass for
deceased Knights. There is a Book of Remembrance in the church foyer in which
people may write the names of active military personnel that the Knights may
remember them in prayer.
Cub Scouts:
· There are 61 Cub Scouts who meet in the church hall on Friday nights
Ministry Reports:
Ministry of the Sick:
· There are volunteers to visit those who wish to be visited.
St. Vincent de Paul:
· The St. Vincent de Paul Society will donate 25 gift cards, each with a 410 value
for turkeys and baskets to Pernet Family Health.
Social Committee:
· Italian Night went very well with 125-130 people in attendance. There was a mix-
up with the set-up; it was disappointing that no one was there to help.
· There was a good crowd at the Senior Luncheon. The CYC did a great job
helping with the luncheon, and the Cub Scouts set up all the tables and chairs. The
Brownies made the favors for the luncheon tables. Rides were requested to provide
transportation to the Senior Luncheon, and Janet thought that would be possible
next year.
· Parish Magnets with a variety of uses such as to hold the parish bulletins on a
home refrigerator or other personal use may be purchased at a cost of 66 cents
each for 500 and 52cents each for 1000. The magnet would include a picture of the
church, phone number, and website address. The number of colors used will
influence the final cost. The Parish Activities Committee will pay for the magnets if
we choose to order them.
Grocery Cards:
· New families are buying cards. We have sold over $1000 worth of cards the
past couple of weeks. Someone will be talking briefly at the masses to explain the
value of the program.
The next meeting is December 1st at 7:30. All ministries should send a
representative.
Father Millott, Father Riley and members ended the meeting with a prayer.
New members are welcome and encouraged to attend the next parish council
meeting.
Respectfully submitted,
Kathy Johnson
Parish Council Secretary
