MINUTES OF the PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL
Meeting on September 1, 2009
1. Present: Father Millott, Deacon Joe Baniukiewicz, Deacon Mike Chase,
Anita Fenton, Vincent Matulaitis, Janet Rauktis, Ann Ratte, Margaret Abboud,
Kathleen Cushing, and Kathy Johnson
Father Millott offered a prayer and then all members joined in saying the Mission
Statement.
2. Father Millott does not have available a financial report. Additionally, he
believes this report should come from the Finance Committee or from a report
submitted by the committee. August 31st was the end of the fiscal year, and he
will be meeting with the Finance Committee. He will discuss the automatic
payment plan with the committee. It was brought up at previous meetings that
some parishes use a web-based program for parishioners to make their weekly
donations.
Father enjoyed the reception and is continuing to work on learning
everyone’s name.
He noticed that the 75th anniversary of the parish is approaching and
would like to start making plans now to have some type of celebration. He
suggests forming a committee to start meeting after the first of the year to give
enough time to plan a celebration.
Father is looking into networking the parish computers.
Father Riley is interested in publishing his homilies. Anita will give him a
link from the parish website.
We need to create a RICA team to be ready to invite inquirers during the
spring. The team would be made up of people with a familiarity with Catholic
doctrine and a history of faith stories to share. This requires the development of
an infrastructure of catechist, companion and sponsor. We do not currently have
someone to head this ministry. If someone is interested in being part of this
ministry, they should speak to Father Millott at this time.
We have an Ecumenism Covenant with St. Luke Episcopal Church.
Father would like the two parishes to review it and examine a willingness or a
need to ecumenical sharing. Father Millott will meet the pastors of St. Luke’s and
the Congregational Church.
Father Millott would like to meet with the Liturgy Committee to help
develop themes, decorative imagery, accent for the holidays, and focus of the
liturgical seasons. The music director would need to be part of the committee as
well as the decorating committee and any parishioner with interest and creativity.
It was suggested that Father look at the decorating committee book put together
to show the seasonal decorations. Deacon Joe said we had a liturgy committee at
one time. It is felt that we would need 6-8 people to meet on a regular basis.
Anyone interested should call the parish office and ask for Fr Millott, Mindy will
take a message and Father will get back to you.
3. Temporal Administrator: Deacon Joe
• Weeds have been sprayed, the Scouts will be asked to clean the bushes
and woods
• The boilers are being test-fired. The outside thermometer is currently at
60°, but will be lowered to 55°. Father suggests check thermostat accuracy of all
areas for heat distribution before making final payment. The desire is to control
heat and limit waste.
• Currently the parish has about $45,000 toward paying the boiler cost.
Money continues to come in slowly. We are nearing the end of the SPECIAL
BOILER REPLACEMENT ENVELOPES.
• All concrete steps have yellow stripe on the edge and the railings have
been painted.
• Police were called last week and they will pay extra attention to church
property. Someone cut the lanyard that secures the flag and stole the flag. There
has been graffiti on the doors and paint on the dumpster. The dumpster has
been used for pet waste, and is now locked. Skateboarders cut the chain on the
stairs and continue skating there.
• Neighbors, buses and cabs continue to cut through the church parking lot.
• Letters have been removed and rearranged on the board out front. It will
not be used until we get a Plexiglas covering or someway to keep the displays
untouched.
• Some bikes and stolen cars have been dumped on church property.
• There has been smoking and drinking in the bushes and the bathroom has
been used for personal business.
• The part-time custodian is doing a great job. He did not strip the floor but
he sprayed and buffed it. Repair of the kneelers is still needed, but we need to
wait on the balance outstanding to finish paying for the new boilers before we
can evaluate if we have the necessary money to undertake the kneelers. If we
fall short the kneelers may have to wait.
4. New Business:
Continuing to make Christ the King a WELCOMING faith community and family is a
first priority. All liturgical ministers when assembled before the liturgies are
asked to continue and make formal that greeting behavior that already takes
place. Your greeting to each and everyone known and not recognized sense a
comfort and acceptance.
A calendar of events will be posted on the website. All ministries were at the
meeting in June to set the calendar. Any changes are to be worked out between
the ministries involved with any swaps and then inform the parish office with
completed details.
Priests leading the Sunday Eucharist will be listed along with Eucharistic
ministers, lectors, and altar servers in the parish bulletin.
People have offered to help Mindy insert notices in the bulletin. Bulletin
announcements need to be written and submitted to the office by Monday noon.
If there is a holiday, all notices need to be in a week early.
5. Old Business: The Knights are still waiting on the publisher to get the
church brochures completed, but there appears to be a snag. We will have
sheets with ministry information available for Septemberfest. Additional
ministries are always welcome.
October 31st Senior
Luncheon
Appreciation Dinner will be held on a Saturday in March
It would be great if more families could buy the grocery cards to help in the fight
against homelessness. Cards are sold at face value and the buyer gets full value.
The stores donate 5% of the sales to the Homeless Coalition. Please stop at the
table in the foyer after mass with any questions.
Ministry Reports
6. Social Committee September 13th- Septemberfest- Janet will check with
the CYC to confirm that they will provide entertainment for the children. Kathy
will talk to the Scouts to ask for help setting up and breaking down tables. The

received some negative feedback, the raffle tickets will be $5.00 rather than an
unspecified donation. Betty is in charge of the bake table. Dave is providing
ponies, and there will be a fire truck. There will be make-your-own- sundaes, hot

representative.
Father Millott ended the meeting with prayer.
