MINUTES OF PASTORAL COUNCIL MEETING
May 1, 2007
1.        Meeting called to order by Father Foley.

2.        Father Foley opened the meeting with a
prayer and members joined him in the Lord’s
Prayer. Members then read the Mission Statement.

3.        Present: Father Foley, Vincent Matulaitis,
Margaret Abboud,  Chris McSherry, and Kathy
Johnson

4.        Financial Report: Contributions have been
continuing at the higher level, so we are in good
financial shape. The finance committee members
will be speaking at masses this coming weekend to
thank everyone for their contributions.

5.        Additional Business: The Appreciation
Dinner went well. Everyone had a good time, and
many people went upstairs to the concert when the
dinner was over. The dinner was paid for by the
Parish Activities Committee, so there was no cost
to the parish.-- Confirmation went well, and the
bishop sent a letter to Father Foley expressing
pleasure with the evening.
The first First Communion day went well and the
second one will be next weekend.
Vinnie reports that the parish has received 131 gifts
so far for the Partners in Charity Campaign, totaling
about half of our goal. Hopefully , more
parishioners will be contributing in the coming
week.

6.        Temporal Administrator: Deacon Joe has
contacted someone to fix a faulty valve that has
caused a heating problem in the church hall. He has
also had the lock fixed on the door leading from the
church to the hall, and a bar on the wooden door
coming into the church. The hall inspection for an
assembly permit cost $175 and went well. The fire
alarm system is working well and the elevator is
good for a year. Ministries, remember the calendar
day - June 7th at 7 p.m. All ministries should be
represented to get items put on the parish
calendar, and to reserve meeting areas.

7.        Old Business: New parish council members
are needed. Also, a representative from each of the
ministries should attend the meetings which are
usually held on the first Tuesday of each month at
7:30 p.m.

8.        New Business: The Interfaith Hospitality
program will be looking for a new place to house
the families next year. To continue housing them at
the church, we would have to spend about $100,000
to get an occupancy permit rather than the
assembly permit we currently have. There would
have to be many upgrades made to allow families
to stay overnight.

Father has been working with a committee
developing a  questionnaire on various topics that
each parish in the diocese will be completing. The
pastoral councils will initially fill out the information
and then it will be shared with the rest of the
parish, so all parishioners can get an idea about the
parish’s viability. Then each parish will send a
representative to a diocesan meeting to discuss
how resources can be shared.

Katie Birch has given information to Father about
the Haitian Apostolate. Katie will be asked to give a
presentation to the parish council to explain the
process of becoming involved with twinning with a
parish in Haiti. The parish council is interested in
hearing about this and possibly presenting the idea
to the parish. There is a mass and meeting about
this ministry at St. Paul’s on May 4th at 7 p.m.

have lost a member recently and the committee

the all bereaved people in the parish.
