MINUTES PASTORAL COUNCIL MEETING
February 6, 2007
1. Meeting called to order by Anita Fenton
2. Deacon Joe opened the meeting and members joined
him in the Lord’s Prayer. Members then read the Mission
Statement.
3. Present: Deacon Joe, Vincent Matulaitis, Anita
Fenton, Derek Stiles, and Kathy Johnson
4. Financial Report: The amount needed to support the
parish has been raised in the bulletin from $8100 to $8800.
Deacon Joe will find out when the change was made
5. Additional Business: Some Eucharistic ministers
have not been showing up for their assigned masses, which
causes difficulties. It is asked that Eucharistic ministers
make every effort to attend to their assignment. The U.S.
bishops have asked for dispensation in the matter of
purification of the vessels. The request was denied, and so
the vessels have to be cleaned by priests. Also, only the
priest, deacon, or assigned acolyte can open the tabernacle
during mass. Those who are bringing communion out into
the community can get the hosts as needed.
6. Temporal Administrator: Deacon Joe There is some
lack of adult supervision of some of the groups that use the
church hall and Johnson Room. It is required that groups
clean up after themselves and return the room to the same
condition it was in when they began their activity. Tables
should be taken down or moved to original position and
trash should be put in the dumpster, not left in baskets.
Heating and electricity are big concerns. In the Johnson
Room the three hour override should be used. It should be
pressed when entering the room and when leaving. If
stairwells and bathrooms are used they should be left clean
and lights should be turned off when leaving. Doors should
be locked and windows closed when leaving. In the Bridge
Room, beyond the brown door, is the priests’ private
residence. NO ONE should be going through that door for
any reason. In the church hall, CCD takes precedence over
all other activities. There will be no social activity in the hall
during any liturgical service in the church at any time, as
well as on Holy Thursday, Good Friday or Holy Saturday.
Walls will not be moved when a liturgical service is being
conducted in the church. The kitchen is for adult use only.
No child should ever be in the kitchen without adult
supervision. If groups don’t follow guidelines, they will not
be able to use the facilities. Deacon Joe will present Father
Foley with a draft of his plan and each organization will
receive and sign a copy. There will be a meeting in June to
schedule any planned activities for the year. Every
organization should send a representative.
7. Old Business: New parish council members are
needed. Also, a representative from each of the ministries
should attend the meetings which are usually held on the
first Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m
8. New Business It was suggested that we look into
installing motion sensor lights in the church hall and
Johnson Room to try to limit the amount of wasted
electricity. Derek will look in to purchasing a defibrillator to
keep in the church. Easter bulbs will be available in the cry
room after they begin losing their freshness. Parishioners
are invited to take one after they are put in the cry room.
Ministry Reports
9. Knights of Columbus Deacon Joe Trip to Foxwoods
had to be cancelled because of lack of interest.
10. CCD No Report
11. CYC No Report
12. Women’s Guild No Report

The meeting was concluded with a prayer by Deacon Joe
followed by the reciting of the Hail Mary. The next meeting
will be March 6th at 7:30 p.m.. If there is no school on the
day of a scheduled meeting, the meeting will be cancelled.
All parish organizations should send a representative to the
meeting.
New members are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Please see Father Foley.
Respectfully submitted,
Kathy Johnson
