MINUTES OF PASTORAL COUNCIL MEETING
February 02, 2009
1. Meeting called to order by Anita Fenton
Father Foley opened the meeting with a prayer followed by the committee
reciting the Lord’s Prayer. Minutes were approved and the Mission Statement
was read by all.
Present: Father Foley, Deacon Joe, Anita Fenton, Paul Franco, Mike Chase, and
Kathy Johnson
2. Financial Report: Father Foley stated that regular collections are fine;
we haven’t seen any real decrease.
3. Temporal Administrator: Deacon Joe There have been complaints about
the ice and snow. The entire committee feels that the contractor doing the
plowing/shoveling is doing a great job. Sanding and salting have been done;
there is nothing more we can expect. We are buying a new motor booster for
the elevator, saving the motor and electricity. The cost will be about $3200.
4. Old Business: Kathy Grocery cards continue to be sold after all masses,
but fewer people are helping with this important ministry. We are currently
selling less than $1000 per week, down from almost $2000. Buying the grocery
cards does not cost the consumer any extra money; the stores donate 5% of
the cards sold to The Homeless Coalition. If parishioners shop at Big Y, Shaws
or Stop and Shop, buying a gift card would be appreciated. We thank the
families who buy every week and would ask that other families join in the fight
against homelessness.
5. New Business: Paul Discussed a Mass for Athletes to bless the athletes
before their seasons and
encourage our young people to attend mass throughout the sports
seasons. We will look into making a card with neighboring Sunday masses that
may fit into their sport schedules. Paul will talk to Father Riley about getting a
speaker. The tentative date is May 16th qt 6 p.m.
