MINISTRY TO THE ELDERLY

All of us, as People of God, have been called
by reason of our Baptism to serve others by using
the talents, gifts, and charisma given us by the
Lord. The Ministry to the Elderly encourages
parishioners to meet the needs of the elderly of
the parish through information, referral, listening
patiently, offering a helpful hand, and being
present wherever and whenever needed. One of
the most important tasks of those involved in
this ministry is to be THE LINK between the
elderly and our parish community - the elderly and
others who, for some reason can no longer
attend liturgies and socials. A valuable outreach
of this ministry is taking the Eucharist to the
homebound. Another service provides
transportation to the Saturday afternoon Mass for
residents of Mill Pond and other elderly
parishioners. Compassion, understanding,
patience and love of the aging can ease the pain,
depression, loneliness, etc., that often
plague our housebound elderly.
