I) CHRIST THE KING RELIGIOUS EDUCATION PROGRAM FOR PARISH YOUTH

This is some general information about our programs as we begin another year.

GRADES 1-6: Class work is based on the Sunday scripture readings, especially the Gospel for the Sunday of the
weekend that class is held. Classes begin one-half hour before Mass, and children join
their parents at Mass after the Prayer of the Faithful. A parent or responsible adult should show the child where
they are sitting in the church, and mark the spot with a "seat saver, found by the
doors.  Classes are held Saturday at 3:30 pm, Sunday at 8:30 am, and Sunday at 10:30 am.
Please see that your child arrives
on time.

As an alternative, parents may work with their children at home. While we offer this as an alternative, it is expected
the numbers choosing this option will be small. The interaction of the classroom is highly recommended.

HIGH SCHOOL: Classes meet on Monday nights from 7-8 pm in the church hall, and are based on a series of texts
that alternate over a 3 year period, and ties into the junior high text. It requires reading, thinking and interaction on
the part of students, and challenges them to think about Church teaching and what they believe.

Junior High: Classes meet on Tuesday nights from 7-8 pm in the church hall, and are based on a series of texts,
which ties into the texts we use for 9th and 10th grades. It requires reading, thinking and interaction on the part of
the students, and challenges them to think about Church teaching and what they believe.

FIRST EUCHARIST: Preparation for reception of Communion begins in January, and takes place during the
regularly scheduled CCD class. Students in grade 2 and those in higher grades who have not yet received come
together to work weekly. This preparation is for public, private and parochial school students. Reception of First
Communion is scheduled to take place
May 3rd and 10th, 2008. Rehearsals are scheduled for the evening
before at 6:00 pm in the church. Students not baptized at Christ the King must submit copies of baptismal
certificates.

FIRST PENANCE: The Sacrament of Reconciliation is generally received in the primary grades, beginning in
Grade 2. Parents should decide when their children are able to understand right from wrong, and sin as a
deliberate action against God's love. The Sacrament will be celebrated on
December 8th, 2007  in the church.

CONFIRMATION: The Sacrament of Confirmation is usually received in the 11th grade. Classes will be held
monthly on Sunday evenings for 1 and one-half hours. Class attendance is required, and no more than 2 classes
can be missed. A service project that demonstrates the Christian model of service to others will be required, along
with an explanation of the student's choice of Confirmation name, and an adult practicing Catholic sponsor who
stands with the student during Confirmation. Students not baptized at Christ the King must submit copies of
baptismal certificates
.  CONFIRMATION - Rehearsal March 30th 6:30PM; Confirmation - April 1st
7:00PM.
2) CHRIST THE KING RELIGIOUS EDUCATION PROGRAM FOR ADULTS
The Rite of Chrisitan Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is the procedure by which adults complete a
process of prayer, meditation, and study to become full members of the Roman Catholic Church.
The Catholic Church invites you to learn more about us and our faith.

*   If you are married to a Catholic or attend Mass and would like to learn more about the church with
the possibility of also becoming a Catholic
*   If you are unbaptized, and have become dissatisfied about the lack of spirituality in your life
*   If you are a baptized Catholic but have never received formal religious education
*   If you have been baptized into another religion, but remain curious about the teachings of the
Catholic Church

Then join us.

We would like to hold an Inquiry Session at a convenient time for you. If you have any questions or
wish to join these sessions,  please print and fill out the following form and place it in the Sunday
collection basket, call the rectory at (508) 754-5361, the chairperson (Mary Hovenesian) at (508)

Notices about these programs appear in the bulletin. As a general rule, home mailings are not done to make
parents aware of these events. A parent information meeting is held in advance of the start of classes for
sacramental preparation. Please watch the weekly bulletin for announcements.

Should there be inclement weather, the rule of thumb is that if school is cancelled or dismissed early, CCD is
cancelled for the day. The local radio stations are on tape during the weekend, so there is no way to announce
the cancellation of classes scheduled for the weekend. Call the CCD office and listen for a message on the
answering machine. Above all, use good judgment.

Our children, no matter what the age, observe what we do and how we do it. Religious education begins in the
home, and parents (along with grandparents, aunts, uncles and family friends) are the primary religion teachers of
children. It is not sufficient to drop the kids off for lessons, and pick them up when classes are done.
Regular
attendance at Mass and reception of the sacraments are essential practices of the Catholic faith.

If you have questions or concerns, please call the CCD office at (508) 752-5514. The CCD program secretary is
also able to help and can be reached at the same number.
