April 5, 2011
Present: Father Millott, Deacon Mike Chase, Janet Rauktis, Vincent Matulaitis, Paul Franco,
Stephanie O’Donnell, Mark Anderson, Karen Belliveau, Alexander Fine, Lizzie Myshrall and
Kathy Johnson
Father Millott led the opening with the parish council members joining him in a prayer/psalm
and in reciting the Mission Statement.
Old Business
75th Jubilee
• The Birthday Party with the Bishop went well.
• The cast of Annie had a party with cake and punch for the youngsters in the parish.
• The CYC will have an Easter Egg Hunt on Easter Sunday.
• May is a sacramental month with First Communion and Confirmation occurring.
• After the CYC show on the weekend of May 1st, there will be a mailing to all
parishioners of a Jubilee booklet with information of upcoming activities. It will inform
parishioners about the ticket sales for the banquet on November 20th.
• Had planned a June 5th Mass for living and deceased members of religious with Bishop
Reilly. Two of the larger communities have a conflict with this date, so we will be looking to
reschedule. We will try to plan something else for the 5th.
• Any extra money we receive to pay for the Jubilee Banquet brochure will be donated to
the Sisters of St. Anne for their mission in Haiti.
• The choir is planning a concert for the fall, maybe during the second or third week of
October.
• The Parish Picnic is in September and the Senior Luncheon is in October. The City
manager and his family have accepted an invitation to the Senior Luncheon.
• We will be asking for a papal blessing for our Jubilee as well as political congratulations.
• We are looking for historical pictures of the parish. We need pictures of past priests for
the brochure, and the names of original members.
New Business
• We will look into a bookmark for the Jubilee memento
Temporal Administrator
• The repair to the ceiling was successful. The whole ceiling was painted with insurance
paying most of the cost. The alarms have been going off because of paint dust. We paid for
the alarm company to come the first time. The contractor did not cover the alarms as was
suggested so they will be paying for any subsequent trips to fix the alarm. The contractor
changed some light bulbs while the staging was up for the painting. There is a small leak near
the crown that was discovered when they were painting.
Organizations
CYC
• There will be a consistent presence of someone from the CYC at the Parish Council
meetings
• The CYC will e-mail a new copy of their ministry to Anita to add to the website.
• The adult contacts for CYC are Stephanie O’Donnell and Jim Coderre.
• The CYC only has one set of keys for the hall
• Will be selling flowers on Mother’s Day
• Acapella night was very successful.
• Getting ready for Annie.
• Organizing for Camp Sunshine: 15 kids 2 advisors July 28th-31st. CYC members will be
asking for donations to bring with them to help support Camp Sunshine. Camp Sunshine
offers kids with terminal cancer and their families a place to spend time together with other
kids who are dealing with the same illness.
• Will be having a car wash
• Thursday will be the final day for ads for their show book.
• CYC needs help with the breakdown after the show. All good chairs need to be put back
and they need adult chaperones for the sleepover after the show.
Cub Scouts
• Cubs have not been meeting much because of the Stations of the Cross on Friday
nights. Karen stated that they have been told that they cannot meet in the church hall during
Stations of the Cross until 7:30 which is too late for the boys, so they have been going to the
Congregational Church. Council has a problem with changing locations because they are
chartered to meet at Christ the King. Father Millott said that it is okay for the Cubs to meet in
the church hall during Stations. They are asked to avoid noisy activities, but it is okay to have
a meeting. They will not be allowed to meet on Good Friday and they need to be sure not to
plan the Pinewood Derby during Stations.
• The Scouts will have a Scout Night to help celebrate the 75th Jubilee after a Mass in
September or October.
Boy Scouts
• The Boy Scouts will get what they need for their camping trip out of the closet before
the IHN families arrive.
• Pack and troop are growing
• Summer Camp is July 11th-16th
• High Adventure Trip -going white-water rafting in May
Women’s Guild
• Will be having a shower for the Visitation House the first weekend of May.
Grocery Cards
• Continue to be sold after all Masses. New people to sell cards always welcome.
Ministry Reports
Partners in Charity
• Started last weekend will wrap up in the middle of May. Our goal this year is $116,500
IHN
• CYC is asked to come and play with the kids who will be with us from 6-8:30. Families will
be returning to the hall at 5:30 each evening.
• Beds should arrive by 11:30 on May 1st. If they are early enough the families items will
be put in the back of the hall until the Brownies are done with their fashion show. If they do
not arrive early enough, the items will be put in the garage until the Brownies are done.
The next Parish Council meeting is May 3rd in the Johnson Room at 7 pm. Father Millott will
check to make sure the Johnson Room is available because the IHN families are in the
church hall.
Father Millott ended the meeting with the Our Father and a blessing.
New members are welcome and encouraged to attend the next parish council meeting.
Respectfully submitted,
Kathy Johnson Parish Council Secretary
