September 7, 2010
Present: Father Millott, Deacon Joe Baniukiewicz, Deacon Mike Chase, Janet
Rauktis, Dave Standring, Karen Belliveau, Margaret Abboud, Lauren Mackey,
Cliff Anderson, Paul Franco, and Kathy Johnson
Father Millott led the opening prayer with the parish council members joining
him in a psalm, a prayer and the Mission Statement.
Old Business
· 75th Jubilee March 2011 Janet will put something in the bulletin asking
parishioners to join a committee to plan the celebration. The committee will
define the length of the celebration, possibly from Lent through the Feast of
Christ the King. Father Millott has asked the bishop to come celebrate the Feast
of Christ the King to close the year.
· Parish Ministries Brochure-A mock brochure will be presented at the next
meeting and members of the ministries will check it for accuracy.
· Parish Magnets- Will be passed out after masses during Septemberfest
weekend. Parishioners who are mailed the bulletin will also be mailed a magnet.
· Partners in Charity We exceeded our goal by raising $101,000-102,000
which is over our goal of $98,500. About 270 families in the parish participated.
Father Millott has asked for a list of parishioners who have contributed directly
to the diocese.
Temporal Administrator
· CORI forms are due by September 30th. Everyone has to attend a training
session one time. Diocese CORIs are good for five years.
· There are a lot of things that need to be done in the parish besides raising
the $11,000 needed to complete the replenishment of the savings used to pay
for the new boilers. Kneeler replacement will cost up to $10,000. Cleaning of the
fans will cost $2500-$3000. New thermostats will cost $3000. The white paint
under the windows in the rectory and the bridge room will cost about $5000. The
walls in the church hall will cost $150,000 to replace. The windows in the rectory
should also be replaced. The insurance adjustor is looking at the leak in the roof
over the crown. There is a piece missing that needs to be replaced. The seams
on the outside of the roof need to be replaced and Plexiglas needs to be put
over the crown. It will cost $7,675 for this repair. The ceiling will then need to be
painted. The refrigerators in the rectory were replaced for $1200. A new gasket
was put in the boiler for no charge.
· It was discussed whether there should be an envelope put in the packet
to go towards church maintenance. The majority of the council thought there
were already too many envelopes and we should not add another at this time. It
was hoped that parishioners would donate to the maintenance fund with their
own envelope when they could.
New Business
· St. Luke’s has similar concerns about the violence in the neighborhood.
· They would also like to be notified of Post Bereavement speakers and they
expressed interest in forming a mutual youth group.
· Sharing Our Blessings will begin during October. We are under contract to
try to increase weekly giving 20-25%. There will be 2-3 letters sent to each
household in the parish to explain the program.
· Members discussed starting the meetings at 6 instead of 7, but majority
wanted to keep the time at 7.
· The Paschal Candle has been moved to the side so that it doesn’t have to
be moved up and down the stairs during funerals when it belongs with the body
on the main floor. It is too heavy to keep moving.
· More help is needed to sell grocery cards. There are times when Masses
are difficult to cover with the current volunteers. If anyone is interested in
helping, they should call Kathy at 508-795-1143 or e-mail kathjohn82@aol.com.
· Janet will be the new chairperson for now. New members are needed and
encouraged to attend the council meetings held on the first Tuesday of each
month at 7 pm.
Administration
RICA
· There was an open forum last Wednesday, attended by one person who
had questions about the Catholic faith. Two people who expressed interest last
year will be starting formal instruction.
Religious Education
· Registration is ongoing. Classes start on September 18th. Teachers are
still needed for the 10:30 Mass, Monday and Tuesday nights, and a Confirmation
class. Lauren will let Deacon Joe know how she wants the classrooms set up.
Organizations

· Coffee and… will be provided after the 9:00 Mass on the second Sunday of
September, and the first Sunday of the following months
· Cliff and Karen will ask the Scouts if they are interested in providing

covered by different groups.

together with hot dogs and hamburgers.

There is always plenty of adult help for camp.
