IN SERVICE TO ONE
IN SERVICE TO ALL
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS Council #12691
As described in its member magazine "The
Columbia" (Click here), ...." the Knights of Columbus is
a Catholic men's fraternal benefit society that was
formed to render financial aid to members and
their families. Mutual aid and assistance are
offered to sick, disabled and needy members and
their families. Social and intellectual fellowship is
promoted among members and their families
through educational, charitable, religious, social
welfare, war relief and public relief works.
The history of the Order shows how the foresight
of Father Michael J. McGivney, whose cause for
sainthood is being investigated by the Vatican,
brought about what has become the world's
foremost Catholic fraternal benefit society. The
Order has helped families obtain economic
security and stability through its life insurance,
annuity and long-term care programs, and has
contributed time and energy worldwide to service
in communities.
The Knights of Columbus has grown from several
members in one council to more than 12,000
councils and 1.6 million members throughout the
world.
The Knights of Columbus Council of Christ the
King Parish provides services to our parish and
parishioners. We always welcome new members
and if you would like additional information, please
contact Mark Brennan at (508) 798-5745. Former
members and transfers are also welcome.
To All Men of Christ The King Parish:
The Knights of Columbus Council of Christ The King Parish is
looking for new members. If you have never been a member of the
Knights, or are/were a member of another Council and are interested in
joining us, we would like to hear from you!
Although the Council has only been organized in this parish for a few years, we
have over 30 men who are active members, however, we would like more.....
many more to join us in our efforts to "give back" to the Parish and to
others. During the past few years our Parish Council has done a significant
amount of work such as: Community Service, Parish Contributions and Activities,
and has sponsored fund raising events to support these efforts.
Some examples of the good work of Parish's Knights have been able to
accomplish during the past few years include:
Community Service:
. Donated food and fed the Homeless Veterans (done quarterly)
. Established the Homeless Veterans donation box
. Volunteered at the Mustard Seed (done quarterly)
. Provided financial assistance for individuals with special needs
. Established the Joseph M. Baniukiewicz Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund
. Volunteered at the Worcester County Food Bank
Parish Contribution/Activities:
. Donated $600.00 for the purchase of new Missalettes
. Donated $500.00 for the construction of a handicapped ramp at the rectory
. Organized and sponsored the Parish's Annual Family Picnic held at St. Peter
Marian High School
. Organized and conducted annual Spring & Fall clean-ups of the Parish grounds.
. Participated in semi-annual cleanings of the church
Fund Raisers:
. Annual "March Madness Dinner Dance"
. Bus Trips to Foxwoods
. Raffles- Red Sox's & Celtic's tickets
. Annual "April Showers" Calendar Raffle
We would never have been able to achieve these accomplishments without the
tireless efforts of our Knights, as well as the continued generosity, help and
support from our parishioners.
