December 1, 2009
Present: Father Millott, Father Riley, Deacon Mike Chase, Anita Fenton,
Vincent Matulaitis, Janet Rauktis, Dave Standring, Karen Belliveau,
Margaret Abboud, Ann Ratte, and Kathy Johnson
Father Millott and Parish Council members joined in prayer followed by
the recitation of the Mission Statement. Approval of previous month’s
minutes was postponed until after new formatting.
Father Millott:
Father suggested a new order of the agenda, starting with Old
Business.
Old Business:
Parish Ministries Brochure-The printer needs a prototype of the
brochure with specifics. Father Millott will look at the old brochure and
answer any questions. Anita will put the prototype on a CD to give to the
printer.
Christ the King Magnet- Janet will contact the person about the
magnets next week. We limited the colors to two colors on a white
background. The colors have not yet been decided.
Father Riley:
CYC members will be attending a retreat on January 1st to the 3rd at
the Oakhurst Retreat Center in Whitinsville. It will be a CYC student led
retreat of 45-50 young people.
· There was a good turnout of CYC members to set up and serve
coffee and... in the Johnson Room on Thanksgiving morning.
The play will be held in April on the weekend of the 16th.
Temporal Administrator:
Deacon Joe prepared a flyer to be distributed at Masses. Cars have
been broken into in the parking lot.
New Business:
Father Millott has met with neighboring pastors to talk about Lenten
services. They discussed the possibility of meeting one night for three
consecutive weeks for a two hour period from 6-8 pm at each of the
churches. The current plan is to have a 15 minute prayer and a 45 minute
potluck dinner followed by an hour speaker discussing a given theme
ending with table conversations. Both other pastors thought it would be
possible and were going to bring the idea back to their parishioners. We
thought it was a good idea.
· There is a deanery Penance Service on Sunday, December 6th at
OLA
· The parish received a plaque from the Central Mass Housing
Alliance for our support of the grocery card program. It will be given to
Deacon Joe for display.
Administration:
RICA:
There are currently four members of the RICA team. Deacon Mike will
educate the parish about the RICA process being a mentoring process
with team member and parish involvement needed.
The RICA team will advertise after Christmas for anyone interested in
learning more about the Catholic Church. Classes will start during Lent
Organizations:
Women’s Guild:
An Evening of Recollection will be held on December 9th. Mass is at 6
pm followed by a light dinner and a talk by Father Millott in the Johnson
Room.
$4000 was raised for the Visitation House through the baby bottle
drive. Parish involvement is very much appreciated and the Women’s
Guild hopes to have another drive in October.
Knight of Columbus:
The Knights will hold a dinner on December 12th for members and
their wives.
Coffee will be served after the 9:00 Mass starting in January.
Information will be in the bulletin.
The Knights will have a speaker in January to explain a program to
raise money for wheelchairs for veterans.
The Knights will be cooking for the Veterans Shelter on a couple of
upcoming Sundays.
Cub Scouts:
There are close to 70 Cub Scouts in 9-10 dens. There are many Tigers
registered, who are the youngest members. The Cub Scouts just finished
their popcorn drive.
Ministry Reports:
Mustard Seed:
There will be no cooking for the Mustard Seed during November or
December. Cooking will resume in January and go through May.
Post Bereavement Committee:
Mass was celebrated to remember recently deceased parishioners or
family members of parishioners and a reception followed the Mass for All
Souls’ Day.
Bob Frantelli will speak at a meeting in February.
More cards are needed to send to parishioners who lose a family
member. Father Millott suggested that Margaret speak to Mindy to review
possible cards that may be ordered.
The next meeting is January 5th at 7:30.
Father Millott, Father Riley and Parish Council members ended the
meeting with a prayer.
New members are welcome and encouraged to attend the next parish
council meeting.
Respectfully submitted,
Kathy Johnson
Parish Council Secretary
